Girls Varsity Softball · Varsity Softball Rolls In Season Opener

Varsity Softball

The Canyon View varsity softball team jumped at the opportunity to play again after missing most of last season due to COVID by beating Apollo 23-2 at Canyon View High School. Four Jaguars hit home runs and junior Taylor Jacobs gave up just two runs in five innings of work in the season opener for both squads.

The Lady Jags opened up the game in the bottom of the second inning, scoring 19 runs off a variety of Hawks pitchers. Freshman Mariana Garcia and Sadie Groshong got their high school careers off to a solid start belting three-run home runs to pace the Jaguars. Jacobs knocked a three-run homer over the center field fence later in the inning to round out the scoring.

Sophomore Madison Terrant got things going in the first inning with a two-run homer of her own as the Lady Jags jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and never looked back.

Canyon View will travel up the road to Willow Canyon on Friday, March 19 for their next game. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
